Treat every guess as information
A useful guess does more than attempt the answer; it tests positions and letters. Record what each result rules in and rules out.
Separate position from presence
A letter can be present without being in the tested position. Keep those facts separate so you do not accidentally eliminate valid candidates.
Use exclusions aggressively
Once a letter is confidently excluded, remove words containing it unless duplicate-letter behavior gives you a reason not to.
Watch duplicate letters
Repeated letters complicate feedback. A result may reveal that a letter appears once even if you guessed it twice. Interpret duplicate-letter clues carefully.
Prefer informative candidates
When several answers are possible, a candidate containing multiple untested letters may reveal more information than one that repeats letters you already understand.
